Tribe Mils

The Swift Current Indians continued their recent hot streak last night, picking up their second win in as many nights against the Melville Millionaires.

Darren Kolk knocked in 2 RBI's and scored twice, while JD Heredia cruised through the Millionaires line-up, as the Indians downed Melville 8-1. Kolk, Taylor Steen, Nate Ackerman and Kevin Bettencourt carried the load on offense, driving in Swift Current's 8 runs.

After starting pitcher David Stagg struggled to find the strike zone, Heredia entered the game in relief with 2-out in the top of the 2nd inning.

The lefty from New Mexico had perhaps his best outing of the season, throwing 6 1-3 innings, giving up just 1 hit and a walk, while striking out 5. Heredia's performance earned him the win on the mound.

The Swift Current victory puts them 1.5 games back of Melville for the final wild card spot, with 2 games left on the Tribe's schedule.

The Indians will be back on the diamond tonight, once again with their backs against the wall. Swift Current will travel to Moose Jaw to take on the Miller Express in another must win game for the Tribe.

A loss tonight would knock Swift Current out of the playoff hunt, while a win could put them within .5 a game of the Millionaires.

First pitch tonight in Moose Jaw is scheduled for 7:05pm.
