The Kabos Bantam AA Broncos season is set to get underway this weekend with a pair of road games in Melville and Balgonie.

Coming off a season where they won both a league and Provincial title, the Bantam AA Broncos return a good chunk of the roster, according to head coach Trent McCleary.

"It's a little different team with quite a bit of turnover, but you look at a lot of other teams around the province and no teams returned eight players from last year," McCleary said. "Those eight players are just a little bit more experienced than some, which definitely helps when it comes down to playoffs."

Of course, the Kabos AA Broncos are missing a notable trio of second-year players from last season who were drafted by the Spokane Chiefs in the 2017 WHL bantam draft.

Defenceman Mac Gross (3rd round, 50th overall), forward Reed Jacobson (6th round, 115th overall), and defenceman Hendrik de Klerk (7th round, 138th overall) have moved up to the midget level, all currently n the Home Hardware Midget AAA Legionnaires' roster this season.

As for the new faces on the AA Broncos team coming up from the back-to-back SHA Pee Wee AA Provincial Championship-winning SWT Pee Wee AA Broncos, McCleary says they should be able to step in just fine.

"We have a lot of pee wees that came up this year. They won it all last year, so we have a pretty good pedigree in the dressing room."

The Kabos Bantam AA Broncos season starts tonight when they take on the Melville Millionaires, and Sunday in Balgonie against the Prairie Storm Extreme Hockey Lightning.
