Tori Kendall scored with 35 seconds left in the first overtime period to give the Swift Current Diamond Energy Wildcats at 2-1 win over the Battlefords Sharks in female Midget AAA hockey action on Saturday.
Sharks goaltender Jacy Akre made 44 saves to keep her team in the game. Moriah Andrews earned the win for Swift Current with 18 saves.
Wildcats Captain Delaine Feil scored on the power play to give Swift Current a 1-0 lead with 4:17 to go in the first period. Feil would also assist on the winner.
The Sharks struck back early in the second period with a power play goal of their own. That was all the scoring either team could find in regular despite the Wildcats firing shot after shot on the Battlefords goal.
Swift Current now sits at 4-7-0-0 on the season, while the Sharks sit in last place at 1-6-1-1. The Wildcats play the Battlefords again on Sunday afternoon.
