The Edmonton Oilers have added Shaunavon's Kale Kessy to their prospect roster.

The Phoenix Coyotes dealt Kessy's NHL rights to the Oilers for OHL prospect Tobias Rieder.

Kessy put up 21 goals and 43 points in 60 WHL games this season with Medicine Hat, Vancouver and Kamloops. He has 6 points in 4 playoff games for Kamloops, including a natural hat trick in a game 4 victory in Victoria.

The Blazers lead the Royals 3-1 in the first round and play game 5 Saturday night.

Phoenix drafted 6'3, 202lbs Kessy in the 4th round of the 2011 NHL draft, 111th overall. He had yet to sign a pro contract with the organization.

Meanwhile, Swift Current's Colton Heffley, McKenzie Johnston and the Kelowna Rockets face elimination Saturday night when they host Seattle.

The Thunderbirds lead that series 3-1.

Edmonton advanced to the second round of the playoffs with a 4-1 win over Kootenay on Friday to beat the Ice 4-1 in their first round series.

Portland hammered Everett 11-4 on Friday and took a 3-1 series lead over the Silvertips.
