Aneroid's Patrick Marleau and the San Jose Sharks were denied a ticket to the second round of the NHL playoffs.

The Los Angeles Kings staved off elimination with a 6-3 win over the Sharks at home Thursday, thanks to two goals each from Marian Gaborik and Justin Williams.

Marleau had two assists for San Jose to bring his playoff point total to seven. He currently leads the Sharks in playoff scoring and is second in the league playoff scoring race.

Game five of the series is tomorrow in San Jose.

In other playoff action, Jarome Iginla scored in overtime as the Boston Bruins overcame a 2-0 deficit to beat the Detroit Red Wings 4-3. The Bruins lead the series 3-1 and can clinch it on Saturday in Beantown.

Meanwhile, the Minnesota Wild limited the usually-potent Colorado Avalanche offence to just 12 shots on goal in a 2-1 win to tie their series up at two games apiece.

Three playoff games tonight have Philadelphia hosting New York with the Rangers up 2-1 (5:00pm, TSN2), the St. Louis Blues host the Chicago Blackhawks with the series tied up at 2-2 (6:00pm, CBC), and former Bronco Captain Cody Eakin and the Dallas Stars head back to Anaheim with their series with the Ducks tied at two games apiece (8:30pm, TSN).
