Kirkpatrick Southern Loss

Swift Current's Max Kirkpatrick rink came up just shy in their bid to qualify for the SaskTel Tankard.

Kirkpatrick scored two straight wins to advance to the 'C' qualifying game, where he fell to Fox Valley's Ryan Deis 6-4.

Deis opened the game by scoring two, however Kirkpatrick got the pair right back in the second end tying the game 2-2.

After a blank in three, Deis managed a single in four, before Kirkpatrick blanked the fifth as the two teams hit the break with the score 3-2 in favour of Deis.

Kirkpatrick tied the game in the sixth end scoring a single.

The two teams then traded one point ends before Deis took two points in the ninth to go up 6-4.

In ten, Kirkpatrick was unable to score the required two points, leading to hand shakes.

Swift Current's Reagan Hadden and Clayton Wicks also failed to qualify for the provincial.

Regina's Scott Bitz and Estevan's Brent Gedak were the other to rinks to punch their ticket to the SaskTel Tankard.

The Tankard will run from February 3rd-7th in Kindersley.
