A Swift Current Wildcats defenceman has been invited to attend Canada's National Women's Development Team and Canada's National Women's Under-18 Team selection camps beginning in early August.

Gull Lake's Taylor Kirwan is one of 70 invitees and one of the 67 athletes that will be taking part in Calgary from August 5-13.

Along with Kirwan, 41 other players will participate in the Under-18 Team selection camp.

Divided into six goaltenders, 14 defencemen and 22 forwards, the will then be split into two teams, Red and Black, which will participate in practices, a pair intrasquad games, as well as off-ice dryland training, fitness testing and classroom sessions.

They will also get to battle the national under-18 team from Russia, which has travelled to Calgary.

In the end, 23 players will be selected to play for Canada's National Women's Under-18 Team in a three-game series against the United States in Lake Placid, N.Y.

Last season with the Wildcats, Kirwan three goals and ten assists in 19 regular season games, and another goal and assist in seven playoff games.
