Shaunavon's Kole Lind is back with the Kelowna Rockets for another season after spending time in camp with the Vancouver Canucks.

The Canucks took the 6-foot-1, 185-pound right winger with the 33rd pick in this past summer's NHL Entry Draft.

Lind played for the Canucks when they hosted the Young Stars Classic in Penticton, B.C. earlier this month before suiting up for Vancouver in an NHL preseason game this past Sunday. In the 9-4 exhibition home loss to the Vegas Golden Knights, Lind had a couple shots, dished out a hit, and went to the box once for interference while seeing nearly nine minutes of ice time.

"It was really fun," said Lind. "Good first experience for me. I had a really fun time out in Penticton at the Young Stars tournament. Then I popped into main camp, and playing against all the NHL guys and being with the Sedins and all them is pretty cool."

Lind said being able to play in front of a 15,565 at Rogers Arena on Sunday was quite the experience.

"Playing in front of the Vancouver fans was cool. They packed the building for the first preseason game of the year. They love their hockey out there. I thought I played well on the ice and made some good decisions with the puck. I still have a ways to go until I'm there, and I think I can try to build on that this season and this coming offseason too."

Lind was able to take advantage of his time with NHL veterans such as Henrik and Daniel Sedin.

"Being able to pick their brains a little bit helped," said Lind, who turns 19 in October. "Just talking to them and asking them little questions about what stick work they do in certain situations and how they read different plays, just little things like that go a long ways."

Lind arrived in Kelowna on Tuesday and their first game of the WHL regular season is Saturday when they host the Kamloops Blazers.

Last season Lind led the team in scoring with 30 goals and 87 points in 70 games. This season and next offseason he said the main focus for his development is filling out his 6-foot-1 frame.

"I definitely expected it, but the strength and conditioning of them is definitely top notch. They're men now, so that's something I have to work towards is getting bigger and stronger and being able to put up against them."

With the Rockets, Lind hopes to keep a string of deep postseason runs continuing.

"This season is a big season for us. We're losing a lot of guys, and I expect our team to still be a winning team. Going to a conference championship for a fifth year in a row would definitely be a thing in our future that I want to accomplish."

Lind had six goals and 12 points in 17 games as Kelowna made it to the semifinals, where they lost in six games to the eventual-champion Seattle Thunderbirds.
