Krauchek Call
Swift Current's Mcayla Krauchek fell short in her bid for one of the final provincial berths

It was a tough weekend for Swift Current curlers at the final Men and Women's Junior Curling Qualifying bonspiels taking place in Rosetown and Outlook.

On the women's side, Swift Current's Mcayla Krauchek rink got off to a strong start winning their first two games, but then fell into a skid.

Playing in the 'A' Final with a chance to qualify for provincials, Team Krauchek was defeated by Team Fessler 7-4.

Krauchek carried a 4-3 lead heading into the final end, but a multiple score for Team Fessler dropped the Swift Current rink into the 'B'.

In the 'B' semi-final, Team Krauchek once again carried a one point lead into the final end up 6-5, but in the same fashion as their previous game, a multiple score in the final end sent Krauchek to a second straight loss, 7-6.

Then, facing elimination in their 'C' semi-final, Team Krauchek was unable to get much going against Team Murray, falling 9-0 eliminating them from the bonspiel.

On the men's side, Swift Current's Daiten Greenway (Lead) and Brendan Ross (Third) were competing with Bret Behm out of Moose Jaw.

After winning their opening game, the team dropped three straight decisions, eliminating them from provincial contention.

Team Behm dropped a 9-6 decision to Team Williamson, they then fell 11-4 to Team Banadyga before being eliminated by Team Dales 9-7.

The 2016 Jiffy Lube Saskatchewan Junior Curling Championships will take place from January 2nd to January 6th at the Nutana Curling Club in Saskatoon.
