A former Swift Current Bronco made the most of an opportunity in training camp for the Ottawa Senators and has secured an opening night job on the NHL roster.

Max Lajoie dressed in three preseason games for the Senators and netted two assists while averaging 23:40 minutes per game.

Last year was Lajoie's first year as a pro where he split time between the AHL's Belleville Senators (15 points in 56 games) and the ECHL's Brampton Beast (zero points in one game).

The 20-year-old defenceman registered 120 regular-season points in 203 games with the Broncos from 2013-14 to 2016-17.

He slated to make his NHL debut on Thursday night against the Chicago Blackhawks.
