The Swift Current Broncos have inked a third member of their bantam draft class of 2012

Defenceman Max Lajoie signed a WHL contract this week.

"It's something really big for me," Lajoie said. "It's a new experience, I have much to learn still, but with this organization there's a lot that these guys can teach me."

Interview with Max Lajoie Lajoie was a fifth round draft pick of the Broncos this spring and is one of only three players from the class of 1997 that the Broncos kept with them after training camp.

"Ever since the start of the year for bantam I wanted to play in the WHL," Lajoie noted. "Wherever I went I would probably have signed even if the organization is OK, but here it's just a great organization. Everyone is really nice and they believe in me."

Lajoie scored 3 goals and had 9 assists in 33 games for the Calgary Royals in Bantam AAA last season. He really impressed the coaching staff at training camp.

Mark Lamb on Lajoie and Travis Child"He was exceptional," said Broncos Coach/GM Mark Lamb. "Every day he caught the eye of everybody... he's just looked great all week. That's how we give our contracts. It's not just where you're drafted."

The 5'11, 160lbs defenceman describes his vision and skating ability as his strengths, but recognizes he has to bulk up some and work on his defensive zone coverage. He'll play this weekend at the exhibition tournament in Edmonton before going back home for his first season of midget.

The Broncos also inked first rounder Glenn Gawdin and second rounder Travis Child. None of the 1997 born players are eligible to join the Broncos until next season.
