Broncos Lund iPlex

A new Swift Current Bronco has cast his big shadow over the overage situation.

The Broncos sent a 6th round bantam draft pick to Seattle for 6'5, 223lbs overage forward Chance Lund.

Interview with Mark Lamb"He's a big guy that can really skate," said Broncos Coach/GM Mark Lamb. "He's got a scoring touch he scored 15 goals last year. We just feel he kind of fits the identity of our team. We're going to give him a look to see if he's the right fit."

Lund scored 15 goals and 17 assists for 32 points in 67 games for Seattle last season. That was good enough for 4th on the team in scoring and more than doubled his career totals in each category.

He joins Ryon Moser, Christian Magnus and Dalton Reum competing for three overage spots on the roster.

"We want competition to be hard here in all positions and we think that is what this is going to do," Lamb said. "Nothing against anyone else that's here, it's just part of the game the competition just goes up. We think we've made a lot of strides and this is just another option for us."

Lamb noted no player is guaranteed anything.

"It's not us that's going to find a job for them, it's the players that are going to find a job for themselves."

Moser scored 15 goals and had 27 assists last season, Magnus had 12 goals and 12 assists, and Reum chipped in 6 goals and 13 assists from the blue line. The Broncos have until the middle of October to cut down to overage limits.

Swift Current's next exhibition is the Edmonton pre-season tournament on Saturday against the Oil Kings and Sunday against the Calgary Hitmen.
