Swift Current Broncos legend Dan Lambert is now the head coach of the WHL's Kelowna Rockets.

The 1989 Memorial Cup championship team member was promoted to the role after Ryan Huska took a job with the AHL's Adirondack Flames, who recently moved to upstate New York from Abbotsford, BC.

“To get an opportunity to be a head coach of the Kelowna Rockets is a great honour,” Lambert said in a statement released by the team. “I certainly have some big shoes to fill but I’m going to look at this as a challenge. This is an exciting day, not only for myself but for my whole family.”

Lambert, who played four seasons with the Broncos from 1986-1990 and played for 19 years in the NHL and other pro leagues in North America and Europe, has spent the last five seasons as an assistant with the Rockets.
