NHL Stanley Cup Playoffs


The East's top seed is moving on.

The New York Rangers downed the Ottawa Senators 2-1 last night to advance to the second round of the playoffs.

Marc Staal and Dan Girardi had the Ranger's goals while Daniel Alfredsson netted the Senators' only goal as fans conitnue to speculate if the 16-year NHL veteran will retire.

The Rangers will face the Washington Capitals in the next round.



New Jersey has advanced to take on Philadelphia in the next round after Adam Henrique scored in double overtime to give the Devils a 3-2 win.

Martin Brodeur made 43 saves for New Jersey.

The Western Conference semifinals start tonight, with the Nashville Predators visiting the Phoenix Coyotes.
