Indians Game 2c 570x427

The Swift Current Indians were unable to snap their losing streak last night in Yorkton.

The Tribe dropped a 6-4 decision to the Cardinals, marking the 4st straight loss for Swift Current.

The Indians got off to a good start in last night's game, as they got on the board first when Reid Fritzke came in to score on a Nate Ackerman single.

Swift Current Starting Pitcher David Stagg also started the game well. Stagg retired the first 6 Yorkton batters he faced, as the Indians carried a 1-0 lead into the 3rd.

In the 3rd inning however, the Cardinals began to take control.

Yorkton used 2 hits and a hit-by-pitch to score 2 runs and take a 2-1 lead.

The Cardinals then added to their lead in the 4th.

With 2-out and just 1 man on base, Yorkton managed to string together 3 hits, a walk, along with a dropped 3rd strike to score 4 runs and take a 6-1 lead.

The Indians struggled to get much going offensively in the middle innings, as the Tribe were unable to reach 3rd base from the 3rd inning up until the the 8th.

Swift Current tried to rally in the final inning. Nate Ackerman led off the top of the 9th with a solo home run cutting the Yorkton lead to 6-2. Kevin Czarnecki and Chad Schultz then each followed with a single, before advancing on a passed ball, and scoring on a Yorkton error trimming the deficit to 6-4, but that would be as close as the Indians would get.

The Tribe will now turn their attention to the struggling Okotoks Dawgs. Swift Current will play host to Okotoks tomorrow and Sunday at Mitchell Field.

First pitch for tomorrow night's game is scheduled for 7:05pm. Sunday's start time is set for 2:05pm.
