Girls Doubles badminton belonged to the Leader Saints at SHSAA Provincials in Wilkie on Saturday. With two teams represented, Leader claimed medals with both teams.

The grade 12 team of Payton Stimson and Kyla Tumbach claimed provincial gold after going undefeated all tournament. They won over Oxbow (2-0), Carrot River #1 (2-1) and Wilkie (2-0) in Group A, before defeated the familiar Leader duo of Megan Tumbach and Kerstyn Wenzel in the semi-finals. Stimson/Tumbach would go on to defeat Carrot River #2 (2-1) in the final to clinch the gold.

Meanwhile for the duo of Tumbach and Wenzel, the young grade 10 team advanced out of Pool B with a 2-1 record. They had wins over North Battleford John Paul II (2-1) and Regina Riffel (2-1), but lost to Carrot River #2 (0-2). They, as mentioned, would drop the provincial semi-final to the elder Saints squad, before defeating Wilkie 2-1 in the bronze-medal match to bring home some hardware.

The two Girls Doubles teams were the lone two SWAC teams to medal at SHSAA Provincials.
