A pair of Bantam prospects with ties to the southwest were named to Sask First's Top 28 Male U16 roster last week.

Home Hardware Midget AAA Legionnaires affiliated player Jakin Lawrence and Chaplin-born defenceman Orin Olson were named to the roster after cuts trimmed the field down from 80 players to 28.

Lawrence, a product of Rosetown, spent the 2018-19 season with the West Central Bantam AA Wheat Kings, recording 35 points in 31 games. He also made four appearances with the Legionnaires at the SMAAAHL level.

Meanwhile Olson, a former Bantam AA Bronco played for the Notre Dame Bantam AAA Hounds, posting 15 points in 30 games.

As a rookie last season for a dominant Bantam AA Broncos squad, Olson chipped in with nine assists, suiting up in all 31 games.

The Top 28 still has a little further to go to crack the final cuts.

The draft eligible group will be competing through the summer and fall for a spot on Team Sask's 2019 WHL Cup roster.

That tourney runs in October.
