Luke Grassl made 23 saves for the Legionnaires on Sunday

The Swift Current Home Hardware Legionnaires were 27 seconds away from victory in Tisdale on Sunday.

They were up 3-1 when a scrum resulted in a four minute Reid Fritzke hit the head penalty. The Trojans then scored power play goals five seconds apart to force overtime and eventually a 3-3 tie.

"It was a really great game for us especially coming off that loss the day before," said Legionnaires Captain Edwin Hookenson. "We bounced back and really outplayed them for the majority of the game. We ran into some penalty trouble at the end that cost us, but should have come out with the W for sure."

Jordan Wittman, Dawson Tangen and Graham Grove had Swift Current's goals. Wittman added an assist for a 2 point night.

The Legionnaires outshot Tisdale 32-26 as they broke their six game losing streak with the tie. Hookenson is hopeful they can build on it.

"Even though we only got the one point out of it everybody is pretty happy with the overall effort," Hookenson said. "We finally got a little bit of confidence back... we're confident we can go into Yorkton and start winning again."

The Legionnaires went 0 for 5 on the man advantage, while Tisdale went 2 for 6.

The tie came after a 6-2 loss to the Trojans on Saturday. Swift Current heads to Yorkton for a pair of games next weekend.
