The new coach of the Swift Current Midget AAA Home Hardware Legionnaires is optimistic after their three exhibition games.

Jason Johns says goaltenders Luke Grassl and veteran Kyler Beckett had good showings in a split against the Saskatoon Blazers.

Johns adds they have some early chemistry going, saying some of their lines are already clicking, including the Matthew Audette, Cody McKinnon and Daylan Gatzke line, and some of the rookies are stepping up and making an impact.

The Legionnaires went 2-1 in the pre-season and each one of their games was decided by a single goal.

They start the regular season at the new Mosaic Place in Moose Jaw on Saturday and play their home opener on Sunday.
