The Legionnaires and Hounds in action Sunday at the Credit Union iplex

Connor Odelein had two goals and a helper, but that wasn't enough as the Home Hardware Legionnaires lost 4-3 to the Notre Dame Hounds in Saskatchewan Midget AAA pre-season action on Sunday at the Credit Union iplex.

Kolby Johnson had the other goal for the Legionnaires, who held a 3-2 lead after 40 minutes. The Hounds scored twice in the final frame to take the lead, and held on despite being short-handed for the final two minutes of the game. The Legionnaires scored all of their goals on the power play, but could not capitalize on the late man advantage.

Nolan Reid scored twice and Taylor Ross and Kylan Shea scored the other markers for the Hounds.

Kyle Zinger played the entire game in goal for the Legionnaires and made 39 saves in the loss. The Hounds outshot the Legionnaires 43-35.

The Legionnaires finish the exhibition scheduled at 1-and-4, and open the regular season next weekend in Yorkton. Their home opener is October 5th when they host Beardy's.

In other Minor Hockey, the Diamond Energy Female Midget Wildcats tied Banff Academy 1-1 on Saturday and 6-6 on Sunday to wrap up a pre-season road trip. Up next is the Central Plains Showcase next weekend in Portage La Prairie, MB.
