The Home Hardware Midget AAA Legionnaires split a pair of preseason games over the weekend.

The Legionnaires lost 3-1 on the road to the Saskatoon Contacts on Saturday. Swift then defeated the Moose Jaw Generals 5-1 last night on home ice at the Innovation Credit Union iPlex.

Saturday's game saw Swift open the scoring first, as Logan Linklater buried a puck in the back of the Contacts' net with 6:58 remaining in the second period. Jaxon Martens and Cale Adams were credited with the assists.

However, Saskatoon answered back three minutes later, adding two more unanswered in the third period for the win.

Ethan Hein was charged with the loss in net for the Legionnaires, but performed admirably, stopping 47 of 50 Contacts shots.

Sunday's win over the Generals was a much more impressive effort, as the Legionnaires scored a trio of first-period goals to take the lead and not look back.

Blake Rasmuson led the way with two goals, while Chase Gallant and Kersey Reich added a goal and an assist.

Maguire Scheidt and Riley Dekowny both chipped in with a pair of assists.

Cash Arntsen also added a solo goal in the effort, while Jacob Herman turned aside 39 of 40 Generals shots.

The Legionnaires round out their preseason schedule this coming weekend.

They're in Notre Dame taking on U16 Team Sask on September 15, and back home against the Saskatoon Contacts on September 16.
