The Legionnaires against the Hounds

Swift Current Home Hardware Legionnaires are winding up their Midget AAA hockey season this week.

They have three home games left starting tonight against the Notre Dame Hounds and finishing with a two-game set on the weekend against Yorkton.

Both the Hounds and Legionnaires have been eliminated from the playoff picture and are searching for other things to play for.

"Well I'd like to knock off some teams and just end the season on a high note," Vossen said. "(The Hounds) are fighting with us to stay out of 11th spot and it's an opportunity for us to maybe get a win."

The Legionnaires are winless in ten games, but have won twice and tied once against the Hounds.

"I want to see guys play for pride," Vossen added. "For the name on the front of the sweater not on the back of the sweater. I know that's a cliche, but at the same time there's guys here playing to play next year at a higher level and there's guys playing to come back here next year and play at the same level."

Vossen is very happy with the way his younger players have stepped up lately even as the team fell out of the playoff race.

Puck drop against the Hounds is 8:15pm at the Credit Union iPlex.
