Home Hardware Midget AAA Legionnaires forward Reed Jacobson will be donning the Team Sask colours later this month for the U16 WHL Cup.

The 15-year old from Swift Current says it was great to be selected as one of 12 forwards on the team.

"It's an honour, I mean you want to play at the highest level you can when you play hockey, and you dream of growing up and playing in high (level) leagues, so to make that team and represent our province is a huge honour."

Team Sask, B.C., Alberta, and Manitoba face off in Calgary from October 18-22.

Through five appearances in six games this season with the Legionnaires, the 5-foot-8, 141-pounder has been held pointless but doesn't expect that trend to continue in his first season at the midget level.

"I've been feeling pretty good, the first few games were kind of nerve-racking - it's a new league, new competition," he said. "Playing a few games, you get comfortable and more confident."

A lot of the ability to tackle the process of feeling out a new level and league can be attributed to the veteran core of players on the Legionnaires' roster.

"They're good leaders, they bring you right in and make you feel like part of the team - it's easy to come and play for the team," Jacobson said.

The Legionnaires are back on the ice and on the road this weekend, with a game against the Battlefords Stars on Saturday, before a trip to the bridge city to face the Saskatoon Contacts on Sunday.
