The Swift Current Home Hardware Midget AAA Legionnaires opened the regular season on a winning note with a 4-2 victory over the Notre Dame Argos Thursday night in Wilcox.
Cody Spagrud, Tanner Brewster, Jarrett Gerlach and Matthew Jones scored for Swift Current, with Gerlach, Bryce Hall and Tristan Carey adding assists. Chantz Vinck made 36 saves for the victory. The Argos outshot the Legionnaires 38-33.
The Legionnaires host Tisdale in their home opener on October 4th.
In other minor hockey, the Diamond Energy Female Midget Wildcats travel to Portage la Prairie today for a pre-season tournament. They will open their regular season on October 4th in Melville.
The K-Motel Midget AA Hurricanes will prep for the season with their tryouts this weekend. They'll play an intrasquad game on Sunday morning at 9:00am from the Fairview Arenas, and the regular season opens on October 10th on the road against the Melville Millionaires.
