The win streak is now at a half-dozen for the Home Hardware Midget AAA Legionnaires after a 4-2 win over the Regina Pat Canadians Sunday night.

Win number six came against Swift's toughest opponent during the streak, as the Pat Canadians still carry the league's third-best record after the loss (25-5-2-1).

However, it was the Pat Canadians who struck first on a Chase Nameth goal 2:27 into the game.

Swift responded under three minutes later as veteran defenceman Christian Riemer was set up by rookie forwards Riley Dekowny and Chase Gallant for the equalizer.

The second period was no different, with both teams putting a single marker on the board for a 2-2 draw through 40 minutes. Rin Beny scored for the Legionnaires.

As the 4-2 finish suggests, it was all Swift in the third period. Jacob Piller scored a power play goal with 12:55 remaining, and Beny added his second of the game on an empty net with 23 seconds left to seal the game.

"Tonight was a real tough game for both teams - it was a real rollercoaster of emotions," he said Like we said, we bend but we just don't want to break. We stuck with our game in the second even though we had a lot of road bumps out there to go through. In the third period we managed to stay to our game and do a good job of getting the win."

The busiest Legionnaire on the ice during the Sunday night battle was goaltender Steven Duchscher, who stopped 42 of 44 Pat Canadian shots for the W.

"It was a busy game, but I couldn't thank my teammates enough for getting traffic out of my way so I saw all the shots and I just felt confident from the first shot forward," Duchscher said.

Darren Evjen, head coach of the Legionnaires expanded on the team effort mentality, although noting his netminder performed admirably.

"He was our best player, that's for sure, but it takes a whole group effort," Evjen said. "Duch did what he had to do to make sure we got the win, but the whole group played well tonight to a man, and that's how you beat good teams like this."

The Legionnaires (19-9-0-3) now have a week break until their next pair of games - a home-set against the fourth-place Tisdale Trojans (21-5-1-3).

"This win will definitely give us a lot of confidence going in," Duchscher said. "We have a full week of practice to prepare for it. We've gotten them twice before, and that helps us a lot too - we're feeling good."

"Yeah we're right there - we've got to keep winning," added Evjen. "We dropped some games earlier in the year that we've got to try and get back. We want to catch Tisdale and keep moving up the standings. We've got a week of practice - we'll go at it, work on some things, and then get ready for the weekend."
