After two frustrating weekend losses to the Saskatoon Contacts snapped the Home Hardware Midget AAA Legionnaires' four-game win streak, Swift Current got back in the win column with a thorough beat down of the Notre Dame Argos.

The Legionnaires controlled play right from the opening faceoff in the game, in what ended a 5-0 win at Fairview West.

Swift Current out-shot the Argos 19-5 in the first period, and held a 1-0 lead on a strike from Maguire Scheidt.

Defenceman Hunter Larocque made it a two-goal lead under three minutes into the second period. Forwards Rhett Evjen and Quinn Strang both found the back of the net in the final minutes of the middle frame to hold a commanding four-goal lead.

Larocque scored the game's final goal with just over three minutes left in the game, for his second of the night.

The shots ended 55-17 in favour of the Legionnaires, highlighted by a 25-shot barrage in the third period.

Justin Dueck earned his first shutout of the season, while Brandon von Hagen and Spencer Bell both recorded two assists in the win.

Coming off those aforementioned two-goal losses to the Contacts this past weekend at Fairview West, the Legionnaires played a clean, composed game, while never giving the last-place Argos a glimpse of hope.

It was a steady step back in the right direction, and now at 9-7-0-0 on the season, the Legionnaires will put their progress to the test with a tougher opponent on home ice.

The lone game of their weekend is a Sunday contest against the Saskatoon Blazers (11-2-0-0) at Fairview West. That game has a 12:30 p.m. puck drop.
