After two shutout wins (5-0, 5-0) on the road the last time the Home Hardware Midget AAA Legionnaires took on the Battlefords Stars, it was a weekend split this time around in Swift Current.

The Legionnaires used three unanswered goals from Kersey Reich, Riley Dekowny, and Reed Jacobson in a 3-2 win on Saturday.

Mason Strutt assisted on all three goals, while Jacob Herman stopped 20 of 22 shots in net.

However, Battlefords used five unanswered of their own on Sunday, handing the Legionnaires a 6-3 loss, after Swift Current held a confident 3-1 lead after the first period.

Boston Bird, Christian Albertson, and Dekowny recorded Sunday's trio of strikes.

Ethan Hein got the start in the weekend finale, allowing five goals on 25 shots - the sixth came with the net empty.

Swift Current outshot Battlefords 33-22 on Saturday and 46-26 on Sunday, but just couldn't quite steer a couple tumbling pucks into the open cage in the finale to claim at least a point.

The Legionnaires went a combined 1-for-11 on the man-advantage, with Battlefords going 2-of-8 over the weekend.

Swift Current has now traded wins and losses the past four games, and a tough pair of opponents await.

The fourth-place Legionnaires (22-11-1-1) are off to Saskatoon next weekend, taking on eighth-place Contacts (17-16-1-0) on Saturday, and the second-place Blazers (28-7-0-2) on Sunday.
