Suffering their fourth straight loss, the Home Hardware Midget AAA Legionnaires were doubled up 4-2 on the road against the Beardy's Blackhawks.

Beardy's leapt out to a two-goal lead in the first frame, though Hunter Larocque trimmed the deficit to just one heading into the first intermission.

"We didn't really create a whole bunch in the first period," said Legionnaires head coach Darren Evjen. "When we get a goal, you get a little energy, and we seemed to bounce back a little bit, but they just took the game back, and we never really took control of the game - we chased it the whole time."

Beady's took a stranglehold on the game with a 4-1 lead through 40 minutes, highlighted by a short-handed marker.

Swift Current was able to cut the lead to 4-2 just over eight minutes into the third period, as Christian Albertson put one home on the power play for the game's final goal - assists came from defencemen Mac Gross and Joe Arntsen.

However, after a gritty effort fell just short on Saturday in Tisdale, Sunday's result was a bit underwhelming for the Legionnaires.

"That's probably the first time I've seen our team get out-worked," admitted Evjen. "We have a lot of character and we pride ourselves on playing hard. Today Beardy's just out-worked us - that was the difference. They won the puck battles, they got to the net, they just won a lot of the different battle areas."

Swift Current was out-shot 34-29, and still sit at 19-10-1-0 on the season, despite their recent struggles.

"We just need to do the right things - we need to get more pucks in higher percentage areas around the net, and get bodies around the net," said Evjen, on what's missing on the offensive end. "It's one of those things - the more pucks you can get there, and the more rebounds you can jump on, the better chance you're going to have of scoring. We just need to go back to practice and continue staying steady and dedicated to trying to get better around the net with the puck."

After a torrid climb up the standings to start the season, it's a brief stretch of adversity for Swift Current. Though, as has been the case the past two seasons in the southwest, this team looks to be equipped to weather the storm they find themselves in the middle of at the moment.

"You need to be able to work at anything you do in life - if you can't work hard, you're not going to succeed," said Evjen. "We need to bring that back, and I'm sure our guys will. They're a group that prides themselves on being a good hockey team. So, when something like this happens, and it does happen, the only way you can respond is by coming out to practice and the next game and playing your best."

Swift Current's next chance at securing their fourth-place spot in the standings comes when they head to 'The Friendly City' for a Thursday night game with the Moose Jaw Generals (10-18-2-1).

That game gets underway at 7 p.m. from Mosaic Place.
