Shaunavon's Kole Lind is one of 32 invitees to Team Canada's World Junior Camp, so he'll be headed to Ontario on Monday.

Lind is a forward with the Kelowna Rockets and was an early second-round draft pick by the Canucks this past summer.

"It's a huge honour for sure," said the 6-foot-1, 185-pound right wing. "It's another big opportunity for me, and this is my first chance to play for Team Canada at any big event, so I'm going to go out there and try to put my best foot forward."

Through 21 games in the WHL he has 12 goals and 34 points this season, and had two goals and a helper in Team WHL's 7-0 win over Russia in the CIBC Canada Russia Series in November.

Kelowna is in Swift Current for their only visit of the season next Wednesday, but Lind leaves for St. Catherines, Ont. on Monday. For family and friends hoping to watch Lind play near home, they can't be too disappointed. For a while now, playing in the U20 tournament - held this year in Buffalo - has been a dream for the 19 year old.

"Every year World Juniors is always the thing that you watch the day after Christmas, so I think it'd definitely be a dream come true to be on everyone's living room screen come boxing day," he said.

The last time a Shaunavon product suited up for the World Juniors was in both 2003-04 and 2004-05 when now-Lightning-defenceman Braydon Coburn won a silver and a gold with Canada.
