It was a great showing for local competitors at the CCA Finals Rodeo in Regina.
Rodeo fans were treated to an exciting final performance of the 2009 CCA
Finals Rodeo at Agribition, with the competitors in every event
working to impress the audience and the judges in Regina.
In
just his second year at the CCA Fianls Rodeo, Collin Adams captured
the 2009 Bareback championship. The Deloraine, MB cowboy scored a 84
in the final go-round for a first place finish on the night, giving
him a total of 145 championship points.
In
Steer Wrestling, JD Hays of Rocky Mountain House, AB, consistently
placed in the money and, earned the 2009 championship title for his
efforts. On the final night, Hays posted a 4.2-second time, which was good
enough for second place in the performance.
Rylan
Geiger was the top money winner in Saddle Bronc riding on the CCA
Rodeo circuit this season. At the 2009 Finals Rodeo, the Swift
Current, SK, cowboy won the championship buckle. Geiger scored a
first-place 77 points on his final ride to earn the overall title with 165
championship points.
Shawn
Williamson earned a first-place finish in Tie Down Roping in the
final performance, and the 40 points won him the 2009 championship
title. The Mankota, SK, cowboy posted a 9.4-second time in his final
ride.
Team
Ropers Owen
Schmitz of Central Butte, SK, and Scott McLeod of
Waldeck, SK, finished up the week with 120 championship points. On
their final run, they blazed a time of 5.9 seconds and earned first
place money for the evening's ride.
Tanner
Byrne was leading the Bull Riding event heading into the final night
of the 2009 CCA Finals Rodeo. Although the Prince Albert, SK,
cowboy was bucked off, the 140 championship points he earned earlier
in the week were enough to capture this year's title.
Dannielle
Dinius rode into the 2009 CCA Finals Rodeo as the defending Ladies
Barrel Racing Champion, and with a string of consistent money winning
runs, she retained her title. The Stewart Valley, SK, racer earned a total
of 225 aggregate points to, once again, win the championship buckle.
It
took a ride-off to determine the Junior Bull Riding champion for 2009. Kane Larsen of Ingliss, MB, was able to outlast Jared Parsonage of
Maple Creek, SK, to win the championship title. The two cowboys were
tied with 130 points, and Larsen scored a 72 in a ride-off to win the
title.
Josey
Doenz was one of the fastest Junior
Barrel Racers at the 2009 CCA Finals Rodeo, and she was rewarded with
a championship title. The Milk River, AB, racer earned 210 championship
points on her way to the title.
