The longest point streak in the WHL this season has come to an end.

Swift Current Broncos Captain Adam Lowry put up at least a point in 21 consecutive games, for a total of 36 over that span. The streak was halted on Saturday when the Winnipeg Jets draft pick was held pointless in a 2-1 win over Regina.

"It was a lot of fun," Lowry said during Home Hardware's Overtime on The Eagle 94.1 FM Monday night. "I didn't expect to go on a run like I did. I just kind of got hot and I just started to feel pretty confident out there. It started to seem like I was getting a lot of fortunate bounces.  I knew it probably wasn't going to go on for the rest of the season, but it was nice that when it ended we were still able to get the win."

While he was focused on winning games, the streak was in the back of his mind.

Listen to Monday's episode of Home Hardware's Overtime"As it went on you'd start to get a little more anxious," Lowry noted. "I didn't want it to end. It was a little nerve wracking when I was coming down to the wire against Prince Albert and luckily squeaked one out on an empty-netter. At the same time you can't worry about it too much, I was just trying to contribute in a positive manner for the Broncos."

Lowry moved into the top five for goals and points in the WHL during his streak. He also leads all Eastern Conference skaters in those categories. The end of the streak also meant he was finally able to clean up his look.

"I feel like I look like I'm 12 again," Lowry joked. "I told my parents that when the point streak came to an end I was going to get a hair cut and shave."

Lowry is now hoping he will get the chance to grow another beard if the Broncos are able to get to the playoffs and have a long run. Swift Current is riding a six-game winning streak with home games against Regina and Moose Jaw this weekend. That doesn't mean they are able to rest on their laurels.

"I think lately our power play needs to improve," Lowry said. "We've been in the top five over the past two years and I think it's just a little bit of complacency on our part. We've gotten comfortable with the system and now teams are starting to pre-scout it. They're upping the pressure. Moving forward that's going to be an area where we are going to have to step up."

Swift Current sits 5th in the Eastern Conference standings only 4 points behind Red Deer for 4th. You can hear Friday and Saturday's home games against the Pats and Warriors on The Eagle 94.1 FM with The New Pioneer Co-op Home Centre Broncos Hockey at 6:30pm.
