The Swift Current Broncos had four-time Stanley Cup winner Craig MacTavish handle practice yesterday.

MacTavish, a long-time friend and former teammate of Broncos Head Coach/GM Mark Lamb, took out the whistle and put the Broncos through their paces at the Credit Union iplex.

"It's just fun.  Sometimes you need a break from the regular routine," commented the former Edmonton Oilers Head Coach following the afternoon session.

"We just wanted to come out and have a little fun, and talk a little about hockey, and pass on some things.  We weren't out here trying to split the atom or anything (laughing), but it was a good, fun day."

Both MacTavish and Lamb played together with the Oilers in the 80s.  They even spent a year together behind the Oilers bench with MacTavish as Head Coach.

He says the two talk coaching quite regularly.  "Probably once every couple of weeks, we will have a good discussion.  I always still have plans to work with Mark down the road at some point, in some capacity.  He's really enjoying what he's doing, and has a wealth of information to pass on to these kids."

MacTavish is the guest speaker at this morning's Training for Life Special Olympics Breakfast at the Living Sky Casino.
