The Maple Creek Bantam Hawks recently won the Wayne Gretzky - Future Team Canada program.

The team was selected as the Saskatchewan winner and has been loaded down with prizes.

Hawks' player Taras Burton wrote an essay on why their team in Maple Creek should be selected for the honour.  Hockey Canada will outfit the team with Team Canada apparel, and also awarded them a cheque for $1999 to be used towards hockey development.

The Bantam team will also head into Swift Current tomorrow to the Hockey Performance Centre before going to the Broncos game, where they will be hosted by fellow Maple Creek native and Broncos Captain Zack Smith.

Last year, the Swift Current Female Pee Wee Colts were chosen as the Saskatchewan winner.
