Local marathoner Sara Wallace is back from Boston after running in the famous Boston Marathon on Monday.

"All of the spectators and energy, it was just so encouraging," commented Wallace, a Grade 3 teacher at Waldeck School.  "Running a race teaches you

perseverance.  Running the race and finishing strong with so many other runners, it was an amazing shared experience."

Wallace says the entire school was behind her run, and motivated her to finish the race at a near-personal best time of 3:27 over the 42-kilometre run.

"They put on a pep rally for me before I went.  On race-day, they were able to track me (online).  I wore a computer chip on my shoe.  Every 5kms you went over a sensor so they were able to see where I was on the course."

The 28-year-old says she's not planning any big marathons in the future, as it will be pretty hard to top the Boston Marathon.  She does plan to run the Regina Queen City Marathon this summer.
