Last week saw the departure of Swift Current Broncos Associate Coach Darren Evjen, who announced he was stepping back to spend more time with his family.

Broncos Coach and General Manager Mark Lamb says Evjen was pivotal in changing the identity of the team, coming on after a tough season in 2010.

"He's very supportive on the direction that we were going, he's great with the kids and not only that, he's a great person to be around. He's a very positive guy that every day is a new day and he's happy everyday and it shows," said Lamb.

Evjen will still be involved with the Broncos in a smaller capacity, and Lamb says he's looking forward to working with him in his new role whatever it may be.

"He still wants to be a part of the Broncos organization and he loves hockey,. he's got a lot of passion for it, he's a big Bronco fan and he really cares for the team. We'll see who we hire, see what kind of role he can do with the Broncos and what kinda of time he has to do his role," said Lamb.

A new assistant coach is expected to be hired following this week's N-H-L draft.
