Aneroid's Patrick Marleau picked up another big playoff goal to get his San Jose Sharks one win away from the second round of the NHL Playoffs.

Marleau scored his third goal of the playoffs 6:20 into overtime to help San Jose beat LA 4-3 and give the Sharks a commanding 3-0 lead in their first-round series. The goal was the fourth playoff overtime winner of Marleau's career.

Brent Burns, Matt Nieto and Thomas Hertl scored in regulation for San Jose, while goaltender Antti Niemi made 28 saves.

Game four of the series is Thursday in Los Angeles.

The Montreal Canadiens became the first team to advance to the second round in other action Tuesday night. Max Pacioretty scored a power-play goal with 43 seconds to go as the Habs earned a 4-3 win over Tampa Bay to sweep away the Lightning.

Lars Eller, Daniel Briere and Brendan Gallagher also scored and Carey Price made 20 saves as the Canadiens picked up their first four-game sweep since 1993, which is the last time they won the Stanley Cup.

Earlier, Tuukka  Rask finished with a 23-save shutout to give the Boston Bruins a 3-0 win over the Detroit Red Wings for a 2-1 playoff series lead. The winner of the Boston-Detroit series will face the Habs in the next round.

In Philadelphia, Martin St. Louis scored and Henrik Lundqvist made 31 saves as the New York Rangers beat the Flyers 4-1. New York leads the series 2-1.

Tonight, the Pittsburgh Penguins and Columbus Blue Jackets hit the ice for game four of their series (5:00pm, CBC). Pittsburgh is up 2-1 after pulling off a comeback win on Monday.

In other action, Dallas hosts Anaheim with the Ducks leading the series 2-1 (6:00pm, TSN), and St. Louis visits Chicago with the Blues up 2-1 over the defending champion Blackhawks (7:30pm, CBC).
