Three local NHLers contributed to big wins for their teams last night.

Aneroid's Patrick Marleau got the shootout winner as the San Jose Sharks beat Colorado 5-4.

Maple Creek's Zack Smith opened the scoring for the Ottawa Senators, and that stood up as the game winner as the Sens blanked Pittsburgh 5-0. Smith has seven goals and 11 points so far this season.

Shaunavon's Braydon Coburn had an assist on Claude Giroux's second-period goal as the Philadelphia Flyers picked up 4-1 win over Minnesota. It was Coburn's seventh point of the year.

Former Bronco Captain Cody Eakin picked up his eighth goal of the year, as the Dallas Stars knocked off the LA Kings and rookie sensation Martin Jones 5-2. Jones had won his first eight starts while filling in for the injured Jonathan Quick.

The NHL is now on a three-day Christmas break with action resuming on December 27th.
