A pair of position players garnered WMBL second-team all-star awards yesterday afternoon prior to the team's Game 2 win over the Regina Red Sox.

Outfielder Blake Adams and first baseman Bo McClintock cracked the second team after a pair of admirable regular-season campaigns.

The league-wide attention isn't Adams' first, after receiving a first-team all-star spot and WMBL Rookie of the Year in 2017.

His 2017 campaign saw a 12-homer effort, to go along with a franchise-record 54 RBI and blistering .360 batting average over 47 games.

After a late start to 2018, Adams' sophomore season in Swift Current produced a tougher task in reproducing that level of production.

Guys were just pitching a little bit different - I didn't make the adjustments I needed to quick enough. But I'm still honoured to be able to be selected into the second team," he said.

Adams played just 30 games this time around in the regular season, hitting six home runs, driving in 18 runs, and hitting at a .287 clip.

He also hit by pitches 16 times, a franchise record, to go along with a steady 13 stolen bases, in what the native of Longview, Texas feels was a solid all-around season from a team perspective.

"Especially in the lead-off spot, just being able to get on base however with walk, and hit-by-pitches," Adams noted. "If you can turn a walk into a double, then you're doing your job for your team."

Meanwhile McClintock ripped a franchise-record 15 home runs, to go along with 40 RBI, and a .288 batting average over 41 games.

"It's a great honour, I'm very blessed to have been honoured. A lot of good baseball players there, and just to be recognized by the league is pretty important," said the product of Beavercreek, Oregon on his first summer north of the border.

However he says his mind is more on the present than the past regular season.

"We're here now to win the whole thing - that's our goal, that's my goal, and that's the only thing that matters to me and these guys," said McClintock. "To win a championship would mean way more than any all-league award, or anything like that."

McClintock, Adams, and the 57's are off to Regina tonight for Game 3 against the Red Sox at 7:05 p.m. from Currie Field.
