Former Swift Current Broncos Coach/GM Todd McLellan is heading behind the bench for Canada at the World Hockey Championship.

He will be the head coach for Canada's entry in the tournament for the first time.

McLellan is the head coach of the NHL's San Jose Sharks. They missed the playoffs this season and it was the first time in McLellan's coaching career that his team will not play any post-season games.

McLellan went 236-157-36 in six seasons with the Broncos. He is a former WHL coach and executive of the year.

The Swift Current Broncos Hall of Famer also won a Calder Cup in the AHL and was an assistant coach under Mike Babcock with the Detroit Red Wings.

Broncos alumnus Cody Eakin will play for Canada in the tournament.
