Action between the Remax Wild and Unity Lazers at the Credit Union iplex

The Remax Midget Wild had their season ended in disappointing fashion, losing 12-1 to Unity in the final game of the SHA Provincial Midget A final Wednesday night at the Credit Union iplex.

The Lazers won the series with a 16-4 total score, which included a 4-3 victory on Saturday.

"We were really flat-footed in the first few minutes, got down three quick ones and weren't able to bounce back," said Head Coach Brad Torry. "We definitely got beat by a better team, Unity is a great club and they definitely earned it tonight from us."

Dustin McAleer had a four-goal night and Mark Ganter added a hat trick for the Lazers as they also outshot the Wild 41-26.

Braydon Lemay scored the only goal for the Wild in a third period marked by a number of major penalties and ejections among the players, and one fight among the stands that prompted the RCMP to step in.

"I got guys that are never playing another game of midget hockey and that gets to a guy," Torry added. "A loss is tough enough. A 12-1 loss is really, really hard to deal with, so there was definitely a lot of frustration, and it's just too much for the boys."

Marshall Cadrain started in goal for Swift Current, but was pulled after allowing seven goals.

"It's an embarrassment getting scored on seven times, but throughout the first three series, I thought I played well," Cadrain said. "I started off the first series against Estevan, it was the best series I've had, and I slowly started wearing down, and I guess this was just the final step."
