The Swift Current Abbey Resources Midget AA Broncos worked a trio of games to a 1-1-1 record in the first weekend of their 2018 portion of the regular season.

The Midget Broncos recorded the lone loss in the first game on Friday - a 3-2 defeat at the hands of the Notre Dame Argos (13-9-2-1).

Swift Current and the Argos were tied 2-2 until a goal from Ike Achebe with 6:18 left in the game sealed the fate of the Broncos.

John Priela and Quinn Patenaude each had a goal and an assist in the game, while Jackson Sitter and Ryland Hornung added assists. Jacob Herman turned aside 14 of 17 shots in net for the Midget Broncos.

Saturday saw a worn out goal light in eastern Saskatchewan, as the Midget Broncos cashed in a baker's dozen against the Melville Millionaires in a 13-4 win.

All 14 skaters registered points in the win, ten of those racking up multiple. Rhett Evjen (2 G, 2 A), Colt Kornfeld (1 G, 3 A), and Beau Larson (1 G, 3 A) led the way while Patenaude (3 G), Hornung (1 G, 2 A), and Nathan McInnis (3 A) all had a trio.

Brock Herter (2 G), Sitter (1 G, 1 A), Priela (2 A), and Hunter Johnson (2 A) also had a pair while JC Knight (1 G), Hendrik DeKlerk (1 G), Levi Lamotte (1 A), and Riley Skarbon (1 A) added points.

Sunday was a different result for the two teams, as the Midget Broncos and Millionaires tied 2-2 after the high-scoring affair the previous contest.

Swift Current trailed 2-1 until Priela tied the game up with just 1:23 remaining in regulation to secure the single point. Kornfeld added the other goal.

The Midget AA Broncos (13-7-4-2) are back at Fairview West arena this Saturday when they host the Notre Dame Hounds (7-13-2-0).
