The undefeated Swift Current Abbey Resources Midget AA Broncos worked a weekend sweep, handing a pair of losses to the visiting Lumsden/Bethune Lions at Fairview West.

The Midget Broncos handily won 8-0 on Saturday to open the weekend.

With the shutout victory, Swift Current stretched their streak of unanswered goals to 35 straight.

Quinn Patenaude led the way with a three-point night, as he found the back of the net once, adding a pair of assists.

Also recording multi-point efforts were Nathan McInnis (1 G, 1 A), Beau Larson (1 G, 1 A), Cash Arntsen (1 G, 1 A), Ryland Hornung (1 G, 1 A), and John Priela (2 A).

Hunter Johnson, Matt Christianson, and Riley Skarbon also scored in the win, while Justin Dueck stood tall in net for the shutout.

The Midget AA Broncos then faced their closest call yet this season, winning 4-3 in overtime on Sunday.

The Lions took a 2-1 lead through the first period, with Swift Current storming back in the second to work a 3-3 draw through 40 minutes.

After a scoreless third period, the game went to OT, where McInnis ripped one home on the power play with 1:48 remaining for the game-winner.

McInnis had another goal in the game, while Hornung and Christianson added a pair of assists apiece.

Priela and Levi Lamotte chipped in goals as well for the Midget AA Broncos, with Brad Nyen backstopping Swift in the win.

Now at 28-0-0-0 and with eight games remaining in the regular season, the Midget Broncos embark on a three-in-three weekend.

They take on that same Lions squad on Friday in Lumsden, then head to Melville for a Saturday tilt with the Millionaires, before wrapping up the weekend with a Sunday matchup in the provincial capital against the Regina Vics.
