It took just two days, but the Swift Current Abbey Resources Midget AA Broncos have already pushed the Melville Millionaires to the brink of elimination in their best-of-five first-round playoff series.
Swift Current won 5-2 on Sunday and 7-3 on Monday at Fairview West.
Game 1 saw five different goal-scorers, and six multi-point efforts:
Levi Lamotte - 1 G, 1 A
Ryland Hornung - 1 G, 1 A
Ryan McCleary - 2 A
Cash Arntsen - 2 A
Brock Oberle - 2 A
Quinn Patenaude - 2 A
Nathan McInnis - 1 G
Beau Larson - 1 G
Matt Christianson - 1 G
Brad Nyen needed to make just 14 saves for the win - Swift Current racked up 47 shots at the other end.
Then in Game 2 on Monday, it was at least more even of a shot total, as Swift Current edged Melville 29-27 in that area.
Though, again, five different Midget AA Broncos found the back of the net in the win, with eight skaters tallying more than one point:
Hornung - 2 G, 1 A
McInnis - 3 A
Arntsen - 2 G
Larson - 1 G, 1 A
Patenaude - 1 G, 1 A
Oberle - 2 A
Kaden Floberg - 2 A
Lamotte - 2 A
Riley Skarbon - 1 G
Nyen made 24 saves this time, as the Midget AA Broncos used the weekend sweep to jump ahead 2-0.
Swift Current will now venture out on the road looking to close out the series.
Game 3 goes Saturday night in Whitewood. Puck drop is set for 7:45 p.m.
Game 4, if necessary, would go 4:30 p.m. back in Whitewood.
