The undefeated streak to start the 2017-18 regular season ended at four games on Friday night for the Swift Current Abbey Resources Midget AA Broncos.

The Midget Broncos welcomed the Prairie Storm Extreme Hockey to Fairview West for a pair of weekend games, and the visiting side from Balgonie didn't take long to make themselves at home.

The Prairie Storm scored three times in the first period, adding a fourth unanswered goal in the second, to take a 4-0 lead.

Swift Current would get on the board two minutes later on the man-advantage, as Levi Lemotte notched the unassisted power-play goal.

Then with 2:28 left in the second, Riley Dekowny would score his first goal of the game short-handed to cut the lead in half.

The game would be scoreless for nearly the next 19 minutes when Dekowny put another pack past Prairie Storm goalie Caelan Armstrong with 3:42 left in the game.

However that's as close as the Midget Broncos would come in the first game, falling 4-3, despite out-shooting the Prairie Storm 40-20.

Saturday morning's second contest between the two teams would be a more favourable affair for the home side.

Both teams scored once in the first 20 minutes. The Prairie Storm scored first, but a Matthew Christianson goal would be the first of many for the Broncos.

Swift would have a three-goal period of their own in the second as Beau Larson, Rhett Evjen, and Dekowny all found the back of the net.

The final frame would be fairly similar, as the fifth and sixth unanswered goals would give Swift Current the commanding lead, and win.

Christianson scored his second of the game, and John Priela added the game's final goal with 4:10 left to give the Midget AA Broncos the 6-1 win.

The Swift Current Abbey Resources now sit at 4-1-1 through six games and are back on home ice at Fairview West arena October 28 and 29 for two games against the Yorkton Terriers.
