On the mound, the Midget 'AAA' 57's could not have dreamt a better start to their season, however, their offence and defence ultimately led to back-to-back losses to begin their 2017 campaign.

Despite one-hitting the Southeast Twins in the front half of their Saturday double-header, the 57's fell 4-2.

Through 4-2/3 innings Warkentin held the Twins hitters in check, surrendering nothing more than a hit and a walk, however three untimely errors helped the Twins cash in all four of their runs.

Three of the Southeast's four runs were marked as unearned.

Swift Current managed to score a pair of runs in the fifth with Nathan Hawkins and Charlie Arntsen both coming into score, however, that would be as close as they would get.

Looking to bounce back in the back-half of the double-dip, the 57's ran into a tough pitcher.

Rhett Nikolejsin took the ball for the Twins and dominated all seven innings of the game.

Nikolejsin struck out nine batters in a complete game four hit shut-out.

The 57's were then scheduled to host a doubleheader against the Parkland Expos on Sunday, but that was postponed due to weather.

Swift Current will now switch their focus to this upcoming Sunday when they will be back at Mitchell Field for a doubleheader with the Muenster Red Sox.Tough 57's
