Despite getting out to an early lead, the Swift Current Midget AAA Indians were unable to hold on late, dropping an 8-5 decision to the Regina Athletics last night at Mitchell Field.

The Tribe got on the board first, when Nathan Braun came into score on an error by the pitcher. 1 batter later, Andrew Garland also came into score on a Devin Schultz RBI fielder's choice.

Regina bounced back quickly though, scoring a run of their own in the top of the 2nd with an RBI single. However, in the bottom half of the inning Swift Current showed their ability to respond. After starting the inning with a strike out, 3 straight Swift Current batters reached base with a walk, Braun then singled to centre field cashing in 1 run, while Garland followed that with an RBI fielder's choice, giving the Indians a 4-1 lead after 2.

In the 4th inning, Regina cut the lead to 1 scoring 2-runs on a 2-out single.

An RBI single from Taylor Bowers in the 5th, put Swift Current up 5-3 heading to the top of the 6th inning, where the game turned around.

The Athletics scored 4 runs on just 1 hit, but 2 Tribe errors and a pair of walks issued, helped keep Regina's rally hot.

Regina would go on to score 1 more run in the top of the 7th putting the game out of reach.

The Tribe and Athletics will meet once again this Friday in Regina.
