The K-Motel Hurricanes played their intrasquad game Sunday morning at the Fairview Arenas

The K-Motel Midget AA Hurricanes are getting set for the new season, as they held their tryout camp this weekend at the Fairview Arenas.

"We ended up having 49 kids out to camp, a lot of local talent obviously and a lots of kids from the smaller centres," said Scott Cassidy, head coach of the Hurricanes. "I liked the skill, we're going to be a hard-working team, and we've got a few players returning from last year... we're excited to get the year going."

Cassidy says some of the strengths that he saw out of guys included their defense and goaltending, as well as overall work ethic.

"A lot of those guys just go out and give it everything they have every shift, and those are the type of guys that I want to have on the team this year," he added. "Our defence core is going to be strong, that's one thing that did stand out, and our goaltending is going to be string this year too."

The Hurricanes host an exhibition game against the Notre Dame Argos on Saturday night at the Fairview Arenas, and start the regular season on October 10th in Melville. Their home opener is on October 19th when they host the Moose Jaw Midget Warriors at the Fairview.
