The Swift Current Midget Indians will open the baseball season on Sunday.

Coach Neil Hogg says they've got a lot of young players, adding it's a big jump for the bantam kids to move up to midget and it takes a long time to adjust, as they found out last year. He says it will be a struggle for them in the first year, but once they do that, he think's they'll be okay.

Hogg adds they should have some strong arms, and says pitching should be a strength if they consistently throw strikes. Hitting could be a weakness, however, as he says some of their power hitters last season have now graduated from the team.

The Indians' season was to start Saturday, but poor field conditions have caused their games to be cancelled. Their game against the Regina Athletics scheduled today should go ahead, with the first pitch at 1:00pm.
