The minor baseball season is underway in Swift Current, and it could be a good year.

"The Midget AAA team coached by Neil Hogg is going to be one of the best in Saskatchewan, it's going to be hard to beat," said Minor Baseball President Louis Cherpin. "I'm coaching the Midget AA and Midget A team, and we're really young, but we're going to be pretty good as well."

Cherpin says they have more players registered than they have in years, but they are still looking for some coaching help: "The younger age groups, Mosquito and Rookie, were lacking some coaches. We have eight teams in Mosquito, and we only have in the neighbourhood of 12 coaches, we would like to have 15 or 16 coaches."

Cherpin adds every team has a head coach, but some could use some assistants.

The Midget AA team starts their season this afternoon at 1:00pm against the Regina Buffaloes with a double header in Swift Current, weather permitting.

The Midget AAA team hosts the Saskatoon Cubs tomorrow at 1:00pm.
