Shaw Swift Current Minor Football kicks off the year with their Jamboree at Riverside Park starting at 9:30 this morning.

President Arthur Ward says the event allows kids registered with minor football to hone their skills, and for the organization to make up the teams so they are as even and competitive as possible.

He adds about 190 kids are expected to play this season, but there's still room for more players and volunteers.

 

 

Games begin on Labour Day Monday, and are held every Sunday up until the Sunday after Thanksgiving.

 

In High School Football, the Comp High School Colts scored a big pre-season win as they knocked off Martin Collegiate from Regina 42-6 at home. The regular season opener is Thursday when the Colts host Estevan.
